The Festival of Unity and Gratitude :- Makar Sankranti

Makar Sankranti is a Hindu festival that marks the beginning of the harvest season. It is celebrated on January 14th every year and is one of the most important festivals in India. The festival is dedicated to The Lord Surya, the Sun God and is observed with great enthusiasm and devotion.

On Makar Sankranti, people wake up early in the morning and take a dip in holy rivers such as the Ganges, the Yamuna, and the Godavari to purify themselves. They then offer prayers to The Lord Surya and seek his blessings for a prosperous harvest season.

Makar Sankranti is also known as the Kite Festival as people fly kites in the sky to mark the occasion. In Gujarat, people prepare traditional sweets such as tilgud, chikki, and undhiyu, and distribute them among friends and family. In Maharashtra, people gather around a bonfire and perform the Bhugali Maghi Purnima ritual.

Nepal, Bangladesh and Pakistan are also celebrating this festival (Makar Sankranti) with great fervor. In Nepal, people celebrate by taking a dip in the holy river of Bagmati, and in Bangladesh, people participate in the Maghi Mela fair.

This festival is not only a festival of the harvest season, but it also symbolizes the victory of good over evil. It is a time for people to come together and celebrate the joy of life. It is a reminder to always be grateful for the blessings we have and to strive for a better future.

As we celebrate Makar Sankranti, let us remember to be kind and compassionate towards others. Let us take this opportunity to forgive and forget past grudges and work towards building a better future for all. Let us embrace the spirit of the festival and strive to make the world a better place for all.
